Few performers can match the tenure that Rod Stewart has attained. After almost 40 years of singing professionally, he can still pack a concert hall with adoring fans and leave them begging for more. From his first commercial debut with The Jeff Beck Group to his current rock milieu, he has always exerted an electric atmosphere about him.
Stewart's second release of 2001 to complement his new album Human, is a throwback to his early days in the recording industry. A Little Misunderstood: The Sixties Sessions is a collection of unreleased singles, demos, and outtakes from Rod's first steps into musicianship.

Rod Stewart we are familiar with, the one of "Maggie May" fame. Rod's roots are exposed in A Little Misunderstood, and they are shockingly different from what we are led to expect.
Rod is less of a rock and roll pioneer and more of pure blues musician. If this release was played with and preempting, one could easily mistake Rod Stewart for a Chicago blues man. Rod's influences are clearly the same that set both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones on their respective routes.
What makes A Little Misunderstood a beautiful addition to any collection is its unfettered sound. Hearing a young North London boy sing South Side tunes and riffs is delightfully refreshing. The purity and satisfaction delivered by this album is sure to both shock and amuse a wide spectrum of tastes.
