Pink Biography

Pink Pink, the 19-year-old R&B/pop artist who grew up in Philadelphia is the latest young woman to break onto the scene with full force. Part of the LaFace Records camp, her shocking pink hair and abundance of confidence make her a dominant figure on the current scene.

Her father's love of music led Pink to play guitar and loving to sing. As a teen, Pink was part of the local club scene in Philadelphia, first as a dancer and then on the stage performing. Friday nights at Club Fever was where she got her first taste of the spotlight and she loved it. It was also were she was discovered by a rep from MCA who was looking for a singer for a new R&B group.

The rep liked Pink's sound, and Pink auditioned for a group called Basic Instinct. Though she got the part, the group quickly faded away. Shortly thereafter, Pink became part of another group named Choice which was signed to LaFace. This didn't last long either. However, it was all the time that Pink need to solidify her career.

Pink @ CanEHdian

The label released Pink's first album, Can't Take Me Home, in 2000. The single "There U Go" has been working its way up the charts. The album has recently gone platinum.

Pink's follow-up album is tentatively due in the summer, with recording set to begin in January or February. According to Pink the album is "…going to be] Annie Lennox meets Method Man, but live this time, because I might be able to afford a band."

Calling Janis Joplin, the Supremes, and Madonna her inspirations, Pink has begun a career from which other will be drawing inspiration in the years to come.
