Grapes of Wrath: "Self Titled" |
 |
Gear Fab Records
This Grapes Of Wrath, not to be confused with the Canadian late 80's-90's pop band of the same name, hail from Phoenix Arizona and recorded between 1966-1971.
In another spectacular release by Gear Fab records label, these local legends have finally been resurrected for all to hear. This first compilation of the Grapes of Wrath collects 14 songs taken from small local label singles, live performances and studio tapes.
The band is perhaps best known for the single , "If Anyone Should Ask", for the small Phoenix based Storm label in 1966.

This British Beat influenced song still holds up well today and really should have been discovered by one of the major labels of the day. It had hit written all over it.
The style of the band ranged from beat, to surf ( a delightful spoof of Wipe Out called Bawm Diddy is a must hear !) and finally to politically influenced psychedelic complete with sitar. As with all releases on the Gear Fab label this CD contains detailed song information , history of the band and rare archival photos.
