Hailing from the heart of all things country, the Dixie Chicks began their act in Texas and have moved it to more global territory. The multi-talented Chicks play fiddle, banjo and dobro in additional to their powerful vocal abilities. Natalie, Emily and Martie have taken the country music scene by storm creating a almost a new genre of country - one that we like to listen to.
With the release of Wide Open Spaces the Dixie Chicks broke away from all things traditional. They brought to the scene a hip version of a country act and are well on their way to become trendsetters. Featured in publications from Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and People to Harper's Bazaar, In Style, Seventeen and TV Guide all of which have commented on how the Dixie Chicks are bending the music world to their liking. They have been awarded two Grammy Awards (Best Country Album and Best Country Vocal Performance Duo/Group), two Country Music Association Awards (Group of the Year and the Horizon Award), plus three Academy of Country Music Awards (including Album of the Year), one American Music Award and two TNN Music Awards.
With over 6 million in sales of Wide Open Spaces the Dixie Chicks released their second album Fly featuring five songs that the band wrote or co-wrote themselves. Knowing that they had grown more as artists since their first release, the Dixie Chicks were very comfortable with this release

and it shows from the first track onwards. According to the Chicks the album reflects all the things currently occurring in their lives. They sound to be a busy bunch. The controversial “Goodbye Earl" reflects their view of abusive men. Causing uproar with people who thought they were condoning violence, the band had to take time to explain that it was not the case. They did explain however “the Dixie Chicks do not advocate premeditated violence, but love getting even."
Their constant touring and promotion across America and into Canada proves that the Chicks are reaching a huge audience ranging from pre-teens to older couples who can sing along to every word at their concerts. As Natalie proudly declares, "I have a feeling that if we're around for 20 years, there will still be things we do that scare them." We’re sure they will be able to do just that.
