Does the world need yet another heavy-guitar grunge ridden band here in the days of post Nirvana retrospective bliss? Probably not. Upon first glance this is exactly what the Jacksonville, Florida band Cold appears to be: vocals like that cross Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and the immortal Kurt Cobain, Alice in Chains riffs and a melody that at best can be described as unique. But wait, there’s more to the band that meets the eye.
Counting among its supporters Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, the band defies traditional genres. It is grunge, it’s heavy metal, it’s alternative…but it’s not. Maybe best described as a rock band that plays heavy guitar, lead vocalist Scooter Ward sums up his bands’ image by stating “We’re heavy, we rock. We put out emotions on the line. And we appreciate the chance to make a record and bring it to the people."

Mind you, as this description originates from the band’s own promotional material, the listener is forced to listen to the album several times to find out where exactly these descriptive words fall. These qualities do exist, undoubtedly, but perhaps they are hidden behind powerhouse lyrics. Example? “....well I could never understand / a motherf**kin word you’d ever say..." Exactly the way you’ll feel too.
