At the front of the Celtic tide that has swept Canada throughout the past
decade has been the Barra MacNeils, a band whose instrumental talent rivals
The Chieftains and whose energy compares to the younger Great Big Sea.
Formed by family members Lucy, Kyle, Sheumas and Stewart MacNeil, the band has mixed
traditional Scottish and Irish influences with modern country and pop
influences to create a sound that is as unique as it is pleasing.

The band first's release came while they were still students at Mount Allison
University back in 1986, and the albums continue to this day, with their latest
release being the lively All At Once (2000).
