When many of us buy an album, we want the reassurance that the money that we are spending will be worth it for a few listens, a musical experience. I must go on record stating that I've never seen these guys in concert, but quite frankly, I believe that may not be necessary to understand this band. I've heard much of their older work, but this album struck a nerve. If it possible to put emotion into music, this album speaks to the relaxed, melancoly part of each of us. Songs like He's Gone, and Brighter Hell draw you into the landscape afforded by tight musicianship and great singing.

The album is quite diverse, and it is something important to note that this reviewer is still listening to this album extensively after two years of owning it. There are some good rocking tracks as well, but when The Watchmen mellow out, they excell. The album's recording quality is high, with little or no feedback, missed beats etc. It's percussive and reminds me mostly of albums that were made twenty to thirty years ago. If you must put it into an easy category, it's a 10. ;-)
