Go back in time for a moment to swinging London.
No, not the caricature that Austin Powers represented, but the
real thing. There you’ll find the Small Faces churning out hit
after hit. Whacha Gonna Do About It, Shake, and the humorous
Lazy Sunday, from Odgen’s Nut Gone Flake, my favorite
album by this gifted band, shortly before Rod Stewart joined and
ruined everything.
Here you get those same songs, plus twelve more and
interview bits, all recorded by the BBC circa 1965-1968.
The Small Faces were a Mod band, and the musical foundation
for the Jam, Oasis, Secret Affair, The Accidents, and countless
bands on the brief Mod Revival bandwagon. This band would have
written great songs even if they were American hillbillies,
and went as the Jethros. Excellent sound, and near-perfect
performances. A nice addition to their already sizeable catalog.
