Sass Jordan's third album continues in the vein begun on Racine; this is roots rock with teeth. "High Road Easy" received considerable radio airplay, and the other rockers on the album are similar-catchy with an edge, showcasing Jordan's gut-deep voice. As on Racine, the up-tempo stuff works the best: "Damaged", "High Road Easy", "Ugly"

(featuring a guest appearance from George Clinton), "Honey", and "Wish". Of the slower songs, "I'm Not" and "Give" are excellent, though "Breakin'" is an acquired taste. Jordan's got way more attitude and a much stronger voice than most singer-songwriters, and both are shown to their best advantage on Rats.
